Biography
Ty is a fifth-generation Wyomingite raised on a county pocket on the east side of Cheyenne. He grew up spending his nights and weekends helping his three-generation family business of Western Auction and Z's Home Furnishings, while attending school at Baggs, Carey, and Cheyenne East High. He attended the University of Wyoming where he earned his degree in Business Management before returning to Cheyenne to take on a management role. Ty learned to auctioneer with help from his father Dave and grandfather Mel. He sharpened his skills even more as a graduate from the Western College of Auctioneering. In 2008, he also became a realtor in order to offer a wider base of service to auction customers and include property and land for full estate liquidations. Upon the sale of the companies in 2012, his real estate license inspired him to seek a position with the Wyoming Department of Transportation where he was a Land Management Specialist assisting with roads and highway construction and maintenance throughout the state. While he enjoyed meeting with Wyomingites from around the state he realized his true calling was to serve the citizens in his hometown. Ty was selected for a position with Cheyenne Fire Rescue and is now serving in his seventh year with CFR as a Lieutenant of suppression and Cadre instructor for new trainees.
Ty met the love of his life, Shawna Robbins, in the halls of East High school. Shawna currently serves as an elementary school teacher for Laramie County School District #1. They have been together since 2000 and recently celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary. They have two sons, Aden 16, and Eli, 13. The family enjoys all the pastimes that Laramie County has to offer: family camping trips to Curt Gowdy state park, a summer membership with the Community Pool, various disc golf courses, (especially the canyon course in Pine Bluffs) and spending time at the family homestead in the Chalk Bluffs area on the Laramie County border. In his spare time Ty also enjoys Crossfit to help keep him in good physical shape and combat some of the mental stresses which come with his career. He has served as a Crossfit coach in the community since 2013 as well as coaching for his son's soccer teams through the Cheyenne Soccer Association. He dedicates his time and auctioneering talents to benefit and charity events throughout Laramie County.
