Sheriff's Posse

Posse Requirements

Individuals applying to volunteer with the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office must go through a thorough application process.

  • Individuals with a Felony Conviction, Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence Conviction, Driving Under the Influence Conviction, Property Crime Conviction, or recent drug use will not be considered for volunteer positions.
  • All applicants are required to have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Volunteer position applicants are required too successfully complete:

  • Application and background questionnaire
  • Interviews: Oral board and Integrity
  • Background investigation
  • Mental Health screening
  • Drug Screen
  • Fingerprints

Reserve Deputy Program

Reserve Deputy Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Reserve Deputy Applicants must have Detention or Peace Officer certification. 

Volunteer position applicants are required too successfully complete:

  • Application and background questionnaire
  • Interviews: Oral board and Integrity
  • Background investigation
  • Mental Health screening
  • Drug Screen
  • Fingerprints
